Staff Profile: Gina Huh
We are thrilled to welcome Gina Huh, our newest Nurse Sonographer at AlphaCare! Gina brings a wealth of experience and deep passion for supporting wo
men and families. In this Q&A, she shares a bit about her background, what motivates her, and what she is looking forward to in her new role. We are excited to get to know her!
- Where are you from originally, and how did you come to Philly?
I am a Korean American from Los Angeles, California. After completing my undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California, I moved to Philadelphia in 2021 for UPenn’s Accelerated Nursing Program. Moving away from family and friends was challenging, but it has been the best decision I have made! For the past 3 years, the Lord has blessed me to make this city of brotherly love my new home!
- How did you hear about AlphaCare?
I heard about AlphaCare through my church, Renewal Presbyterian. We often prayed for AlphaCare’s ministry, and my community group volunteered with organizing donations of baby and maternity clothes.
- What made you want to be a part of our team?
I wanted to join AlphaCare because of its strong commitment to helping vulnerable women in the West Philadelphia community. It really resonated with me, and I knew I wanted to be a part of this important work. Additionally, I yearned to work in an environment where my colleagues and I could share and encourage one another in prayer about our faith and for our patients. I was excited about the chance to work where faith and patient care come together, so I reached out to Brooke to see how I could get involved. I was open to helping with anything, whether it was filing or using my nursing background, and the LORD provided a perfect opportunity!”
- How do you hope to make an impact here?
I hope to serve the local community of West Philadelphia here by showing a glimpse of what Jesus’ compassion and care look like through my work in providing medical services.
- You are currently in school to become a Nurse Practitioner; what inspired you to pursue that program?
I wanted to pursue becoming a Nurse Practitioner because I always had a heart for serving in a community clinic. And being an NP means that I will be able to serve the community more effectively by diagnosing, creating care plans, and prescribing treatments.
- Do you serve in other ways at Renewal Presbyterian Church?
Yes, I teach 3rd – 5th grade in our Children’s Ministry and lead the Young Adults Ministry.
- Do you have any hobbies or favorite way to relax?
I enjoy exercising, reading theology books, and playing guitar.
