Introducing New Board Members: Sharon and Julie
Sharon Skeel became passionate about joining the pro-life movement when she decided to research exactly what takes place during an abortion. Horrified, she was motivated to find a place to actively serve. Sharon learned about AlphaCare through the church she and her husband David attend (Tenth Presbyterian), which was instrumental in founding this ministry 40 years ago. She began her association with AlphaCare as a member of the Development Committee, which she now chairs. Sharon also serves in leadership for the Philadelphia chapter of Life Runners.
Sharon is a free-lance writer and recently published the biography, “Catherine Littlefield: A Life in Dance.” She is a graduate of The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Sharon states, “I desire to use the gifts and blessings the Lord has given me to serve others, ministering in both practical and spiritual ways.” She is motivated by thankfulness for the salvation God has granted her, and by the knowledge that all people (including the unborn) are His image-bearers.
Julie Yoon learned of AlphaCare when former Executive Director, Prudence Humber, presented various ministry opportunities during a Tenth Health Fellowship Meeting at Tenth Presbyterian Church. She first volunteered with the Hotline in 2010.
Julie is a Nurse Practitioner. She completed her undergraduate studies at Stevenson University in Maryland and earned her master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She currently works in the cardiology unit of Pennsylvania Hospital.
Julie sees her life as a gift from the Lord and feels a responsibility to live that life with purpose. She is inspired by AlphaCare’s faith-centered approach, and by how much this ministry does for the community. She states, “I believe that God’s hands are truly upon this mission and I, therefore, would like to be a part of it.”
