Perspective: The Front Desk
It is certainly a privilege to serve the women, mothers and babies of AlphaCare. It has also been a humbling experience that has significantly contributed to my spiritual growth. Being primarily the first point of contact as clients call and or visit the office requires me to pay close attention to their needs with compassion and sensitivity. AlphaCare serves women whose lives are severely impacted by difficult circumstances and need so much love and support just to make it through the day. In particular, while communicating with prospective clients by phone and as they walk-in the office door, I can often hear and see their desperation and hopelessness. Just recently there was one young lady that came into the office accompanied by a young man and she seemed very nervous to inquire about an appointment. As I answered her questions to determine the best time to schedule an appointment, the gentleman looked at her and abruptly said, “why do you think you need to make an appointment?” She did not respond. I could see it was very uncomfortable for her and proceeded to communicate with her as gently as possible in order to assure her that this is a place that is safe for her; she could be herself and express what she needed. Each day holds situations like this. I pray for God’s wisdom and guidance as I navigate each one.
While it is wonderful experience to serve the clients it is also a blessing to work alongside and support the staff at AlphaCare. The staff, volunteers and interns are all comprised of women and men with unique characteristics that contribute to the mission of AlphaCare and in serving the specific needs of each client. I pray for God’s strength as I strive to do my part and contribute to the pursuit of our mission.
In my short time as a part of the AlphaCare team, I have met some of the most caring, loving and committed donors who lend their resources, time and support to the organization. It’s because of people like you, who love and care about the lives of others, that AlphaCare is able to carry out its work in the community. Prayer is the key: making our requests known to the Father who strengthens us as we strive to do His will.
