Reintroducing Sue Henderson and Brianna Cross

Oct 4, 2021Newsletter

AlphaCare is excited to announce that our perinatal nurse, Sue Henderson, and our social worker, Brianna Cross, have taken on the roles of Program Managers!

As long-term employees, Sue and Brianna know AlphaCare’s mission and mindset from the inside out. Their new roles will include ongoing modeling and mentoring. First, how can the staff increasingly invest in the clients’ lives and share Christ with them, in word and deed, on a daily basis? Second, how can the staff practice healthy self-care so that they can continue to give and serve? Without the necessary rest, refreshment and support on all levels (emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically), the risk of burnout looms large. In many ways, to care for the staff equates with caring for the clients. We are blessed to know from experience that both Sue and Brianna are gifted by the Lord in caring not only for clients, but for the other staff members who minister to and support the clients as well.

We anticipate a spurt of growth in the coming two years! These new roles will enable us, by God’s grace, to be well-positioned for this expansion. We expect an increase in available medical appointments, and Sue will be very busy with her duties as a nurse and the time required to train the second nurse we hope to hire in the near future. Brianna will be tasked with implementing strategies and plans to meet our redefined and robust Social Services goals. This will also include deciding how to solve AlphaCare’s need for additional space and utilizing community partnerships.

We invite you to celebrate and pray with us as we enter the next chapter at AlphaCare with great hope and expectation to see where God will lead us – together as partners – in the ministry He has established and sustained for 40 years!

Blessings,
Brooke Nearman

Sue Henderson, RN, BSN, CCE, CLC
Medical Services Manager
“Because of the love of God for us in Christ, we are called and invited to show his love for others, born and unborn. It’s an amazing privilege,” states Sue Henderson. This guiding truth led through her career – first as a student at Pinebrook Junior College and Cedar Crest College, then as a wife to Lee for almost 35 years (and counting!), a homeschooling mom of two, a volunteer for La Leche League International, a deaconess in her church, a nurse at Bryn Mawr and Frankford Hospitals and Wyncote Church Home, and at AlphaCare for the past 11 years. Along the way, Sue has never lost sight of the mercy she received in Christ or of her desire to show mercy to others. She does so by way of her words and deeds, as she offers professional nursing care in His Name – and AlphaCare provides a perfect venue in which to do just this! Sue looks forward to God’s leading and equipping in new ways at AlphaCare, as we follow where He leads us in the future.

Brianna Cross, BSW
Social Services Manager
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Brianna Cross came to AlphaCare as an intern after receiving her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Temple University in the fall of 2013. Originally seeking more experience in her chosen field, Brianna soon found herself deeply encouraged by the genuineness of the staff and their love for the clients and for each other. She admired the cultural competency displayed while working with the clients and observed that “the agency is in line with social work core values, but – more importantly – with biblical values.” Brianna applied for a position as a Social Worker with AlphaCare when her internship came to a close and has been with this ministry ever since. She and her husband Seth recently welcomed their first child, Alaska. Brianna states, “I’m excited for this opportunity and new season at AlphaCare as Sue and I work together to support the staff and help AlphaCare achieve its mission to serve pregnant women and their families!
