Twice as Blessed
You may be well aware that AlphaCare has been in great need of another nurse. What you may not know is that we have hired two new part-time Nurse Practitioners – AnnMarie Myers (top left) and Valerie Tuck (bottom right) – to perform pregnancy tests and ultrasounds at AlphaCare as Nurse Sonographers. We have sent out numerous communications requesting prayer in our search for a full-time Perinatal Nurse. God is answering those prayers in His way and time, and we are so thankful to Him for AnnMarie and Valerie.
Our desire is to serve more women on our Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) and in-office as the number of requests for appointments has been steadily increasing. The opportunity to bring two more part-time nurses on staff means an additional three days per week open for appointments.
We know that many of you have been interceding on our behalf and on behalf of the women we serve to take this request to God. There is power in prayer and we know that you made a difference through your prayers. Hearing that you have been praying for us has been such an encouragement.
Long-term, we still hope to find someone who will take over Sue Henderson’s role as nurse manager full-time and lead our medical services into the next chapter. Check out the Medical Services Manager job description!
AnnMarie Myers lives in Kensington and works at Rock Ministries there. AnnMarie originally joined AlphaCare as a volunteer. In addition to being a Nurse Practitioner, AnnMarie is a Certified Nurse Midwife, with experience in the local community as well as internationally. AnnMarie will work two days a week, one day in the office and one day on the MMU. AnnMarie will likely work with AlphaCare for approximately 12-24 months based on the opening of Rock Ministries’ own brick-and-mortar pregnancy center.
Valerie Tuck comes to us through Hope Pregnancy Center, where she continues to serve. She’s incredibly passionate about our mission. In addition to being a Nurse Practitioner, Valerie is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. She has had extensive obstetric experience over her decades-long career at locations such as Pennsylvania Hospital, Hahnemann Hospital and Main Line Health System. She is currently a Board member for Greater Philadelphia Health Action. Valerie is committed to working one day a week, first in the office and then on the MMU. She’s interested in expanding to offer Saturday and evening hours, as well.
