Volunteer Spotlight: Bridges International
We love sharing AlphaCare’s mission and vision with students across Philadelphia. For many, AlphaCare offers a great opportunity to give back to the community and make a lasting impact while studying in the area. For this reason, many students seek out opportunities to serve at AlphaCare again and again.
One of our most involved student groups is Bridges International, led by husband-and-wife duo Robyn and BJ Flenner. Bridges operates as a caring community of Christ-followers committed to serve, promote social connections, and engage in spiritual conversation with international students so that students become leaders internationally.
Robyn routinely accompanies a group of international students from local universities to AlphaCare to learn about the challenges of unplanned pregnancies in the U.S. and volunteer their time to serving the women and families we support.
Most recently, Robyn and her crew volunteered in preparation for Hope Delivered, AlphaCare’s annual Christmas campaign. This has become a staple in the Bridges group schedule each year – returning annually to assist with this project. In addition, Bridges students have assisted with spring cleaning projects, routine donation sorting, and have even gotten involved individually helping out at events like our annual fundraising banquet!
Despite being far from home and navigating a new culture, the students at Bridges International continue to bless AlphaCare with their generous dedication of time, effort, and service to their new found community.
