Volunteer Spotlight: Dr. George Fuller
Dr. George C. Fuller has been volunteering and supporting AlphaCare with his arsenal of knowledge and expertise for more than 18 years. That’s nearly half the time that AlphaCare has been in existence.
After resigning from full-time work in 1999, he did not follow the cultural norms of retirement. No, George has a different philosophy than some: “Maybe the chief factor for many people who retire is an increased flexibility to be who they have been the rest of their lives.”
George has used his increased flexibility to serve AlphaCare well. His gifts, abilities and expertise as Chairman of the Development Committee and as a general advisor to the Directors has strengthened the mission and ministry of AlphaCare. He has been a source of wisdom, guidance and encouragement, helping AlphaCare raise funds to support mothers and babies. But his service didn’t stop with advice–George willingly put in the hard work to get any job done. He even helped set-up all the tents for shade at Kick It for Life for the past two years!
We are so grateful for George, and other volunteers like him, who give so faithfully to support our mission. While George has decided to make his role at AlphaCare less “official” (stepping down as Chair of the Development Committee), the dedication and hard work George invested has grown AlphaCare’s network and strengthened our ability to expand services. These investments will yield returns for years to come as AlphaCare continues to empower women and families by providing health and social services and serving as a bridge to community resources.
