A Legacy of Life: Remembering Joan Brauning

Marilyn Joan Brauning (92), one of AlphaCare’s founding board members, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2026. Joan and her husband Wayne, moved to Philadelphia in 1956, where they began their family, and Wayne attended Westminster Theological Seminary. Joan was active in pro-life work, helping to found Alpha Pregnancy Services (now AlphaCare) where she served on the Board of Directors for 19 years. She and Wayne lived in Philadelphia for 38 years before moving to Coatesville, PA, in 1994.

Former AlphaCare staff fondly remember Joan as a strong champion for life with a compassionate heart for women and the unborn. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, Joan shared her exceptional writing talents by creating newsletters and other content that brought AlphaCare’s mission and impact to life through powerful storytelling.

Joan’s passionate care for women and families extended even into her final wishes – requesting that donations be made to AlphaCare in lieu of flowers.
