Malika always called herself pro-life, but that doesn’t mean she was ready for a baby now. So when she found out she was pregnant, she started to panic. She never believed in abortion but was overwhelmed by shame and fear.

Before telling anyone she was pregnant, she came to AlphaCare to have the news confirmed. During her ultrasound appointment, Malika tearfully told nurse Ann Marie how she felt. Ann Marie suggested she meet with a Client Advocate, Lisa, who could help support her further, and then she offered to pray for her. Malika was floored. She had been praying for the Lord to help and guide her ever since the home pregnancy test came back positive, but she hadn’t realized when she scheduled her appointment that AlphaCare is a Christian clinic. Malika knew that God was with her and was grateful for an answered prayer and Ann Marie’s kindness.

When Ann Marie called Malika to check in with her a few weeks after her appointment, Malika had more peace about her pregnancy. When she had shared the news with her family, immediately her cousin offered her support. The future still seems uncertain, but Malika is feeling better about it each day. And she knows she can call AlphaCare with any questions she has throughout her pregnancy.
